How Chainflip's TRON swaps work
Chainflip generates a fresh deposit address for each swap. The flow:
Open the Chainflip swap interface in a browser. No wallet connection needed.
Choose the asset you are swapping from (for example, USDT-TRC20 on TRON) and the asset you want to receive (for example, native BTC).
Enter the destination address where you want the received asset to arrive.
Chainflip displays a one-time deposit address on the source chain, plus a time window in which to send.
Send your assets to that deposit address from any wallet, hardware device, or exchange withdrawal.
Chainflip's validators observe the deposit, execute the swap through the JIT AMM, and deliver the destination asset natively to the address you specified.
The whole flow uses the browser to display the deposit address and track progress. No wallet is ever connected to the interface.
Why this design matters in practice
The deposit-address model plays nicely with common real-world flows:
Funds on an exchange. Withdraw TRX or USDT-TRC20 straight to the Chainflip deposit address. The exchange handles signing on TRON. You do not need a TRON wallet installed at all.
Hardware wallet. Sign on the hardware device with its native tooling. No browser extension required, no third-party wallet to connect.
Mobile wallet. Copy the deposit address, paste into any mobile TRON wallet's send screen, and confirm. It is the same flow you would use to send to any address.
Someone else's computer. No wallet extensions installed on the machine, no problem. The interface only needs to show the deposit address and status.
For comparison, many cross-chain swap protocols, including solver networks like NEAR Intents, use a wallet-connect flow where the user signs the source-side transaction directly in a browser extension (TronLink, Klever, Trust Wallet, or similar TIP-191-compatible wallet, per NEAR Intents' documentation). That model works well for users who already have the right extension installed and use it daily. Chainflip's design is oriented at a different starting point: the user whose TRON funds live outside a browser extension.
When a wallet-connect flow still makes sense
None of this makes wallet-connect flows wrong. They have real advantages: fewer clipboard steps, direct signing UX, and immediate visibility of the source balance in the same interface. If TronLink or an equivalent is already your daily driver and you prefer that flow, that is a valid choice.
Chainflip's advantage shows up specifically when your TRON funds live somewhere other than a browser extension: on a centralised exchange, on a hardware wallet, in an infrequent-use mobile app, or when you are simply on a machine where installing extensions is not an option.

Do I need TronLink or another TRON wallet extension?
No. Chainflip's deposit-address model works with any wallet, exchange withdrawal, or hardware signing device, including tools that never install a browser extension.
Where does my funding come from?
Anywhere you already hold TRX or USDT-TRC20. Common examples: a centralised exchange withdrawal, a mobile wallet like Trust Wallet or Klever, a hardware wallet paired with its native app, or a Telegram-based swap bot that uses Chainflip in the background.
Does Chainflip take custody at any point?
No. Assets move from your source wallet or exchange to the one-time deposit address, get processed by Chainflip's validator network, and settle natively at your destination address. Chainflip never holds funds on its balance sheet.
How long does a TRON swap take?
TRON transactions confirm quickly, usually within a minute. End-to-end swap time depends on the destination chain: for a swap to Bitcoin, expect roughly 10 to 30 minutes total. For a swap to Solana or Arbitrum, closer to a couple of minutes.
Where can I see my swap once it is in progress?
Every swap is trackable on Chainflip Scan using the deposit address or the swap ID shown in the interface.
